The Golden Joysticks – Indie Game of the Year Winner

Friday the 13th, Edith Finch and Dream Daddy gain indie plaudits.

Well, The Golden Joysticks are over for another year! Last night’s ceremony was an amazing celebration of the achievements in gaming, where many games were rewarded for their hard work. Unfortunately, disappointingly few winners turned up to receive their awards, but comedian Danny Wallace kept the mood up and didn’t let the absentees go unpunished!

The category Indie Game of the Year, presented by Phil Elliot, produced some interesting results with Dream Daddy coming in third (which received some reaction from the crowd), What Remains of Edith Finch coming second and the Golden Joystick being awarded to Friday the 13th: The Game. The winning creators were reportedly unable to attend at the last minute, although specific reasons were not given.

Other wins include:

Studio of the Year – Nintendo GPD

Best Streamer Broadcaster – Markiplier

Most Wanted Game – The Last of Us Part II

Still Playing Award –  World of Tanks

Lifetime Achievement Award – Sid Myer

Ultimate Game of the Year – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
