Dusky Depths is a physics-based side-scrolling action shooter. Annihilate other players in team-based game modes such as capture the flag or play the deadly perma-death adventure mode alone or cooperatively with up to 8 friends. With over 100 weapons and ship upgrades, customisation and replayability take a forward seat.
What makes Dusky Depths interesting is that the developers, Bow Echo Games, have developed their own physics engine, paired with procedurally generated maps, in which the terrain is destructible. Online multiplayer is there, of course, but what really gets me going is the modding support. Create your own ship, or completely rework the game. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of content people come up with. Mods can get pretty bizarre at times (the Skyrim John Cena sneak attack mod comes to mind).
Dusky Depths is slated for release in 2018, unfortunately there aren’t any more specifics on that. If you’re interested, sign up for the beta on the Dusky Depths page.
