Laser League closed beta starts this weekend

Is this the future of extreme sport?  Let’s hope so.

Laser League is unlike anything you’ve played before. An all-new multiplayer experience – easy to pick up, but nearly impossible to put down – Laser League starts as a simple test of your reflexes, but becomes a strategic showdown with deep team tactics. As they advance, players can master and combine unique class abilities with their teammates, dominate the pitch by commandeering brightly coloured laser nodes to eliminate opponents, and claim their place on the podium as thousands of fans cheer from the stands of neon-lit stadiums.

The Laser League closed beta will allow players to experience a sneak peek of new content, including never-before-seen maps and party play, which will be available in the game once it reaches Early Access on Steam in early 2018. During this period, select players will have an exclusive opportunity to compete on teams in intense 3v3 matches on a selection of Laser League’s future available maps, as developers 505 Games and analyse and work on servers, matches and player performance with the goal of obtaining valuable feedback and insight from gameplay to be implemented in the development process.

In the full game, six different classes will be playable, each offering unique ways to take out your enemies by pairing up with other classes. To gain an advantage over the opposing team, various power ups will be available, which can drastically change the momentum of a game.  There are also over 250 different character customisation options, making sure you stand out from the newbies as you level up.

Laser League will enter Steam early access in spring 2018, but if you can’t wait that long, head on over to the Laser League website.  Note that not everyone who signs up will be able to be a part of the beta, but if the trailer got you as excited as it did me, it’s certainly worth a shot.

It’s worth noting that the Steam Laser League beta runs on from Friday 15 December and finishes on Sunday 17 December.
