Darkest Dungeon will soon be unearthed on Switch

Battle not only monsters, but stress, paranoia and irrationality.

Darkest Dungeon is a challenging Gothic RPG about the stresses of dungeon crawling.  You will lead a band of heroes on a perilous side-scrolling descent, dealing with a prodigious number of threats to their bodily health, and worse, a relentless assault on their mental fortitude.  Five hundred feet below the earth you will not only fight unimaginable foes, but famine, disease, and the stress of the ever-encroaching dark.  Darkest Dungeon focuses on the humanity and psychological vulnerability of the heroes and asks: what emotional toll does a life of adventure take?

Recruit, train, and lead a team of flawed heroes through twisted forests, forgotten warrens, ruined crypts, and beyond.  You’ll battle not only unimaginable foes, but stress, famine, disease, and the ever-encroaching dark.  Uncover strange mysteries, and pit the heroes against an array of fearsome monsters with an innovative strategic turn-based combat system.

If you’re a fan of dark, atmospheric games, and hand drawn graphics, you’re in for a treat with Darkest Dungeon.  The crowquill art style creates a gloomy world that works perfectly with the procedurally generated dungeons.

Since it’s release on Steam in 2016, the Lovecraftian Darkest Dungeon has received very positive reviews, on Steam, and a number of awards, such as: Best RPG of 2016 by PC Gamer; Bestest Best by Rock, Paper, Shotgun as well as being nominated for the Grand Prize in the Indipendent Games Festival 2016.

Developers Red Hook have confirmed that Darkest Dungeon will support touch controls on the Switch.  It’ll be priced at $24.99 on release, and both DLC currently released for the Steam version will be available, but not included.  The Crimson Court DLC will be priced at $9.99, while The Shieldbreaker will be $3.99 (no prices in pounds or euros yet).

For those of you hoping to play Darkest Dungeon on Android, unfortunately the developers have confirmed that they don’t currently have any plans for this.
