Stardew Valley multiplayer ‘still needs some work’

Stardew Valley creator, Eric Barone, also known as ‘ConcernedApe’ on Twitter, has teased a new image of the game’s long-awaited co-operative multiplayer mode in action.

Multiplayer has been something the developer wanted to add to the game since its 2016 release. Barone recently tweeted that the new mode ‘still needs some work’ but is ‘great fun’. Some eagle-eyed fans also noticed the chat box at the bottom of the screen, which will most likely the way players will communicate in-game, and the cabins that will act as temporary homes for visiting players.

Stardew Valley publisher, Chucklefish has previously stated that the new multiplayer mode will enter beta on PC when they feel it’s ready. That was expected to be late last year, but, to fan’s dismay, it has since been delayed to early 2018. It seems like the wait will have been worth it though with Barone posting on Twitter that ‘Being in the same room and yelling at each other about what to do next, or if anyone has any stone, is great fun. Can’t wait to share this’.

Once completed the new co-operative multiplayer mode will launch as a free update for PC and consoles.
