Dungeon Crawler Tangledeep is out now

The 16-bit roguelike ascends from Steam Early Access.

From developer Impact Gameworks comes Tangledeep, a 16-bit roguelike dungeon crawler paying tribute to the golden age of RPGs. Tangledeep is heavily inspired by such classic games as Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger while also combining the strategic turn-based gameplay, with the accessibility and polish from both. The game gives players a huge amount of replayablility with dozens of hours of gameplay thanks to procedurally-generated map design, 12 unique job classes, hundreds of items to collect and use and over 50 otherworldly monsters to battle and tame.

In addition Tangledeep’s soundtrack is one of its best assets featuring two styles: an authentic retro Super Nintendo version, alongside a modern version with beautiful orchestration and live recorded instrumentalists. The soundtrack largely includes music written by Andrew “zircon” Aversa (the games lead programmer and designer) with guest contributions as well from legendary composers such as Hiroki Kikuta of Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetu 3 fame, Grant Kirkhope composer for games like Goldeneye 007 and Banjo-Kazooie and finally Norihiko Hibino who has work on such series as Metal Gear Solid, Yakuza and Bayonetta.

If you would like to check out the game, it is currently available on the official Tangledeep Steam Page for £10.99 / $14.99 for PC, Mac and Linux. Alongside the standard version, you can also buy a bundle which includes the soundtrack which is currently 15% off for $18.68 / £13.75. It is also available on the Tangledeep GOG Page for $14.99 for the same platforms.
