Sky Noon

Sky Noon shooting into Steam Early Access soon

Finally a shooter featuring cowboys with jetpacks and grappling hooks.

Sky Noon is a new first person cowboy shooter with no health bars and air powered weapons. You play a hired gunslinger, on the hunt for opposing assassins in a battle to gather water, which seems to be scarce.  This perhaps is unsurprising, as the game takes place upon floating islands in the sky.

As there are no health bars, you’ll need to take your opponents out by sending them flying off of the map with a variety of strange weaponry, such as the air powered pistol seen in the trailer. Your opponents have their own tools in order to keep their feet firmly inside their cowboy boots, such as grappling hooks and lassos. There are even steam-powered jet packs and jump pads which ensure a fast-paced aerial game play in Sky Noon.

Craig Taylor, lead developer at Lunar Rooster said of the decision to launch in Early Access:

“The idea was really simple – let’s make a first person shooter that felt familiar, yet different. We’re delighted that there’s gamers that wanted this type of experience and the team is really looking forward to the feedback from players to improve Sky Noon during the Early Access development.”

Their aim seems to have been achieved.  There definitely seems to be a strong flavour of Overwatch in both the aesthetics and the gameplay, with notes of Super Smash Bros. coming through when you send an enemy to their grave on the horizon.

Sky Noon was first demonstrated at SXSW Gaming in 2017, and opened to a great reception, even being nominated as a finalist for the Gamer’s Voice Multilpayer award. Sky Noon’s publisher Reverb Triple XP speak of the game play experience:

“What we love about Sky Noon is how it really feels like a first person brawler and that’s a refreshing take on the shooter genre. Sky Noon really has that unique and elusive fun factor that’s hard to find in most multiplayer games and that’s a testament to the clear direction of fun design the Lunar Rooster development team has focused on when making Sky Noon.”

Sky Noon will be launching on Steam Early Access in the second quarter of this year.  We’ll be sure to keep you updated with a specific release date in the future.
