The Fall Part 2: Unbound

The Fall Part 2: Unbound is out on PC and consoles

Over the Moon studio delivers it’s awaited second game.

The highly acclaimed metroidvania puzzle exploration game The Fall (2015) today gets its awaited second part of the trilogy with The Fall Part 2: Unbound, after three years of development. Independant studio Over the Moon launched its second production on PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

The Fall tells the story of ARID, an AI inside a combat suit with the sole purpose of saving the dying soldier inside it. Entering an alien planet’s derelict drone repair facility, the first title of this trilogy presented the three key characters and representations of Over the Moon’s narrative. The caretaker, ARID and the mainframe reflect three different AI approaches to human life: a heavy follower of protocol, a doubting and increasingly sentient being and an almost human behaved conscious simulation.

For those who haven’t played the first title, we’re not about to spoil its major plot points and amazing ending. Nevertheless, The Fall Part 2: Unbound is almost self explanatory on its name. Moreover, developers had already anticipated that their project consisted of three parts when their successful Kickstarter campaign allowed them to dive into production. Needless to say, The Fall is a must for any gamers out there with passion for narrative driven, sci-fi experiences. Graphics and aesthetics are worth mentioning as other highlights.

“After three years, the next chapter in this planned trilogy is finally complete,” said The Fall Part 2: Unbound Creative Director and Over the Moon Founder, John Warner. “We worked extremely hard to create a game that built on where we left our AI protagonist. Part 2 takes our initial story about rules and protocol and builds it into a truly rich and complex experience. It’s been a difficult but incredibly rewarding development process and we’re waiting with baited breath to see what players think of it”, he explained.

The Fall as a whole is a story about hard protocol against AI’s will to change it when their primary objectives crash against their own kind’s programming. “We want this game to shock you, excite you, make you laugh, thematically challenge you and put you in situations you have never been in before”, Warner continued. “It’s our highest goal that video games can change people for the better, and The Fall Part 2: Unbound is as rich with interesting ideas as it is fun to play”, he concluded.

You can pick up The Fall Part 2: Unbound right now on every console and PC, Mac and Linux for $16.99 (other prices not yet available).
