The Council

The Council launches episode 1 on PC and consoles

This narrative role playing adventure features a cast of historical figures with hidden agendas.

The first episode of the narrative adventure The Council has been released today for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4 with the promise of delivering a new twist on the genre with long lasting decision making, deep consequences and no turning back once a path is chosen.

Indie developers at French Big Bad Wolf studio have advertised their creation as “an episodic game like no other” that delivers “a fresh new take on the genre” of narrative adventure, role playing games.

In The Council players will assume the role of Louis de Richet stranded in Lord Mortimer’s with the main mission of finding the whereabouts of his mother, before it’s too late. The setting is completed with a unique set of historical guests: Napoleon Bonaparte and George Washington, to mention a few.

The complete list of guests is as follows:

Sarah Faustine De RICHET, France.

George WASHINGTON, United States of America.

Emily HILLSBORROW, Kingdom of Great Britain.

Napoléon BONAPARTE, France.

Giuseppe PIAGGI, Papal States.

Elizabeth ADAMS, United States of America

Johann Von WÖLLNER, Prussia.

Jacques PERU, France.

Gregory HOLM, Kingdom of Great Britain.

The Council

These icons of human history will have their own agendas and interests, and players will have to interact with them and make choices to determine this story’s course and overall conclusion.

The first episode of The Council is called “The Mad Ones” and will place players at the beginning of Louis de Richet’s adventure on this island with the ultimate objective of finding his mother.

The game features a innovative Social Influence system where players will need to use their limited resources, skills and knowledge in order to gain the upper hand -or the lower- when encountering the colourful guests roaming around the island. Each conversation’s outcome will determine the future of the story based on decisions made by the players.

“Failing an encounter does not mean ‘game over’, and no action can be taken back. The consequences are permanent and may result in persistent physical disfigurements or mental traits that help or hinder the rest of the player’s adventure.”, reads the last press release on The Council.

The Council

“Solve issues with diplomacy, delve into occultism to expand your historical and scientific knowledge, or play detective and see what others do not perceive”, explained Big Bad Wolf in conjunction with publishers at Focus Home Interactive.

With all these tools, the unique setting and really high quality visuals, The Council is a very nice choice for narrative driven games fans as well as RPG enthusiasts.

The first episode of The Council, “The Mad Ones”, is available now on PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4 for $29.99/€29.99/£25.99, and more episodes will be released throughout the year.
