Mutant Year Zero

New gameplay trailer for Mutant Year Zero

Fallout, XCOM and Stalker come together in one very interesting story.

Indie developers and publishers at Funcom released today a half hour long gameplay video featuring their upcoming tactical adventure game Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, in conjunction with Swedish independent studio The Bearded Ladies. The new trailer showcases its three main heroes, a walking duck mutant called Dux, a huge anthropomorphic pig named Bormin and a mutant woman who goes by Selma.

Mutant Year Zero puts players in XCOM-inspired stealth-focused combat where we’ll have to position our heroes under different types of cover, manage their unique abilities and engage in thrilling battles through a war-ravaged wasteland taken from the 1980’s pen and paper game Mutant.

Through the previous cinematic trailer released back in February, Funcom accomplished to give us a very interesting sneak peek of this new post-apocalyptic story, showing Dux, Bormin and Selma scavenging through an abandoned house, taking down an old guardian robot and confronting some mysterious scouting robots.

In this new trailer we can appreciate the XCOM-like type of combat, choosing exactly when to engage, using the terrain to the player’s advantage and also transpiring an attractive Fallout vibe of this wasteland. Any gamer that enjoyed either of the two above mentioned games will definitely want to check out Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden.

The new trailer also shows what “The Ark” looks like, the main city hub where players will go back to in order to visit some shops, take on quests and the likes. The Ark is the centerpiece in the available map of The Zone, where our mutants venture to through the game and that reminds us inevitably of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series. Funny enough, those mutants who dare to venture and gather resources to bring back to The Ark are called Stalkers.

Mutant Year Zero also features a very intriguing storyline of annihilation, danger of extinction and heroes daring to twist their fates.

Without any definite release date announced yet, all we know is that Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden will be available later this year for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
