ATONE

Story-driven puzzle game ATONE announced

Wildboy Studios showcase their upcoming indie title in debut trailer.

ATONE, a game about a young warrior named Estra, solving complex puzzles and surviving rhythm game battle sequences, has released its first trailer showcasing some of the gameplay players can expect.

In what is described as a ‘story-driven puzzle game inspired by Norse Mythology’ players get to explore a 2D world comprised entirely of hand-drawn vector art. You’ll be tasked with solving complex puzzles and surviving rhythm game battle sequences akin to Guitar Hero as the main protagonist strives to find the truth behind her father’s death.

It’s simple isometric level design highlights a light pixel-art style that transfers over to the puzzles and battle system giving the world a unified theme. Of particular interest is the battle system that imitates rhythm music games by having the player input controller commands with precise timing. If done right it could add an interesting dynamic to the heavily narrative focused story.  The game was also recognised in its home country of New Zealand winning a 2017 New Zealand Best Award for Design.

ATONE is scheduled for release in 2019 on PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, and Xbox One.
