Mutant Year Zero

Mutant Year Zero demo will be shown at E3

Funcom mixed XCOM, Fallout and S.T.A.L.K.E.R in one great looking title.

Funcom’s new title, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, will be showcased through a hands-on demo in this year’s E3 expo, beginning next week. This post apocalyptic game blends concepts from titles like XCOM, Fallout and S.T.A.L.K.E.R in one turn-based strategy Role Playing Game.

Earlier this year, in March, Funcom and The Bearded Ladies had released a half hour long gameplay video reflecting the core mechanics of Mutant Year Zero, its high-quality graphics and overall feel. Mutant Year Zero puts players in XCOM-inspired stealth-focused combat where we’ll have to position our heroes under different types of cover, manage their unique abilities and engage in thrilling battles through a war-ravaged wasteland taken from the 1980’s pen and paper game Mutant.

Back in February, and through the game’s first trailer, we had a good look through a cinematic production of the game’s aesthetics and post apocalyptic scenario, featuring its three main characters, Dux, Bormin and Selma. We’ve also already had a look at what “The Ark” looks like, the main city hub where players will go back to in order to visit some shops, take on quests and the likes.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden takes heavy inspiration in S.T.A.L.K.E.R in its film, book and game versions, as one of its main storylines reflects a world where intrepid rangers go out to collect valuables in an unforgiving and dangerous wasteland.

With the announcement of a hands-on demo in the upcoming E3 expo, we now know that we’ll at least get some new insights on this interesting title, hoping to get a release date, as the only thing we know in that department is that it will be out later this year.

The hands-on demo sessions at E3 are held behold closed doors on the second floor of the West Hall and entry is by appointment only.
