Return Of The Obra Dinn

Return Of The Obra Dinn coming next week

Explore the mystery of the Obra Dinn in minimal colour insurance adventure.

Lucas Pope, the developer of Papers, Please, has announced that Return Of The Obra Dinn will be released next week. The game is a first-person mystery adventure based on exploration and logical deduction. The game is described by Pope as “an insurance adventure with minimal colour”, and, from the trailer above, this is an understatement, there are a total of two colours.

The story focuses on the merchant ship Obra Dinn, carrying two hundred tones of trade goods between London and the Orient. Along the route it appears to go missing, as six months later it still has not arrived at the rendezvous point, and thus declared lost. Then, five years later, the ship mysteriously reappears, sans crew, in Falmouth port.

An insurance investigator is tasked with boarding the ship and assessing the damages, and it’s your job to discover the fate of the missing 51 man crew. The developer has revealed that there are both good and bad endings, with the bad ending running at up to 3 hours of playtime, and the good ending between 6 to 40 hours.

The Return Of The Obra Dinn will be available on Steam, Humble and GOG on the 18th October, priced at $19.99
