Sinner: Sacrifice For Redemption

Ultimate boss rush Sinner: Sacrifice For Redemption released

Nobody mention Dark Souls.

Sinner: Sacrifice For Redemption follows Adam, a soldier with a dark past, as he embarks on a journey for absolution and faces off against monstrous beasts to reconcile his heinous crimes. Based on the seven deadly sins, these savage spectres will reveal their personal connections with Adam as he advances his quest for atonement to a haunting soundtrack.

Before duelling each monstrosity, Adam must sacrifice a part of himself and accept a permanent debuff. Battles will become increasingly difficult with each sacrifice as Adam’s vitality is reduced, his arsenal breaks down and his armour withers away. Alternate gear can be unlocked in New Game+ mode, lending replayability to Adam’s journey for redemption.

“Sinner provides the intense action players crave in hardcore games through intimate battles that are accessible in any order,” says Iain Garner, director of developer relations, Another Indie. “By giving players the freedom to choose their path through its devilish challenges, Sinner offers player agency without sacrificing a compelling story.”

The story is also delivered in an interesting way – as the game is purely a boss battler, the focus is on the story and background of your enemies. Speaking to The Indie Game Website, Garner explained:

“Sinner’s plot is told through short sequences focusing on the boss rather than Adam. Each boss has their own unique story and a place within the time line of Adam’s past. Each of the bosses is an important character in Adam’s life and it’s possible to piece together the timeline with the information given but will form a whole regardless of how deep the player looks.”

Sinner: Sacrifice For Redemption is available now on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. You can read our review here. The Steam version of Sinner is expected to release some time this winter and can be added to your wish list now.
