Mutant Year Zero

Mutant Year Zero gets new teaser before release

Sly as a fox.

Publishers at Funcom and Swedish indie developers at The Bearded Ladies studio have released today a new teaser trailer for their upcoming turn-based RPG title, Mutant Year Zero: Road To Eden. This highly anticipated indie title blends elements from Fallout, the STALKER series and X-COM.

In a new teaser trailer revealed today, The Bearded Ladies presented a new playable mutant character, apart from the ones we’ve already come to know: a charismatic duck (Dux), a short-fused pig (Bormin) and a girl who’s skin can turn into stone (Selma). In this new trailer we’ve been introduced to Farrow, a sly Fox who’s specialty is to be a “Silent Assassin”.

This new piece of teasing content comes just a couple of days before the game’s announced release date, set for December 4th. Mutant Year Zero: Road To Eden is clearly one of this year’s most anticipated triple I titles for both its looks and what we’ve been able to see in what regards to gameplay in this year’s E3. The game is based on the pen and paper RPG Mutant, from the 1980’s.

Mutant Year Zero Farrow

The story revolves around The Zone, a place destroyed and worn down by some kind of holocaust, where adventurers and mercenaries called Stalkers venture into to retrieve valuable loot and sell it back at the main city hub of the game, The Ark. Mutant Year Zero has unavoidable references to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series and its inspiration in the 1950’s novel, Roadside Picnic. The reveal of Farrow raises the question about how many other playable characters are there in the game, and if all of them are animal mutations or if there will be more human-looking ones like Selma.

Mutant Year Zero’s PC release is just a few days away and will have two versions: Standard Edition ($34.99) and a Deluxe Edition ($54.99).
