Sci-Fi puzzle horror The Subject unleashed

Inspired by classics from the 1970s and 1980s, The Subject is Brian Clarke’s flagship first title.

Solo indie developer Brian Clarke, head of DarkStone Digital studio, announced today the release of his flagship title The Subject for PC. This sci-fi puzzle horror experience takes inspiration from 70′ and 80’s visuals and general feel of the genre and combines them with stunning visuals and a eerie atmosphere.

With recognizable elements from 2014’s Alien: Isolation and aesthetics that remind of 2017’s Prey, The Subject takes place in the year 2290 and tells the story of a character that has been sold in an auction and taken in a ship into deep space. This is a free roam experience, so after reaching their new owner’s ship, players will be able to freely explore it at their own pace.

Solving puzzles and overcoming other obstacles will allow players to progress through this maze of a ship and find the truth behind the experiments the main character is being put through in the name of BioMass labs. meantime, horrific monsters could be looming around every corner. Puzzles can be completed and tackled in many orders and without a single path to opt from.

With triple-I values to look out for and a more than interesting horror tale to experience, Brian Clarke could be a name the indie scene should start looking out for after the release of The Subject. Clarke has more than 10 years of experience working in AAA titles, his last job in that part of the industry being an environmental artist for Disney/Lucas Films Games.

As Clarke described, The Subject has all the elements from classic horror games, including stealth, survival, puzzles and adventure. Players can pick up The Subject right now from Steam for USD $9.99.
