Iris.Fall tumbles onto PC tomorrow

To the dollhouse.

Publisher Zodiac Interactive and developer NEXT Studio cool-toned puzzler, Iris.Fall, will release onto Steam tomorrow. We previewed Iris.Fall’s demo in November and were immediately enchanted the three puzzles exhibited, which were both intriguing and challenging.

The trailer above showcases Iris.Fall’s blend of 3D and 2D gameplay as well as its dark, vaudevillian visuals. The game’s most beguiling feature is the mechanic that allows the player, as Iris, to switch between two worlds of shadow and light as she is led through a dilapidated theatre by a mysterious cat. The environments are filled with puzzles that stretch across both the physical and shadow realms. These challenges make the player carefully consider the ways the two worlds interact with each other in order to progress.

Key features include:

  • Unique monochrome art style: The game’s visuals use a pure black-and-white cartoon style, relying on the transition between light and shadow to create a distinct experience, both beautiful and visually impactful.
  • Fusing gameplay and the “light & shadow” system: The concept of “light and shadow” runs throughout the design of the game’s art, story, and puzzles. By switching between light and shadow, players can pass through the two realities, experiencing the unique interlacing of black and white, light and shadow, 2D and 3D.
  • Immersive story experience: Become fully immersed in the plot through the stylized and suspenseful atmosphere of the setting and story.

Iris.Fall will be released on Steam for PC on December 7th.
