Ape Out

Devolver Digital’s Ape Out announces release date

The hairy smash-em-up is coming to PC and Switch in February.

Indie developer, Gabe Cuzzillo in conjunction with publisher Devolver Digitial recently announced that their colourfully stylised Gorilla smash-em-up, Ape Out will be releasing on Nintendo Switch and PC 7th February next year.

The primal escape story puts you in the shoes, or should we say hairy feet, of a gorilla intent on freedom through an explosive display of physicality. Invoking the abstract technicoloured violence of previous Devolver Digital titles, such as Hotline Miami, Ape Out again brings us ultra-fast action from a top-down perspective framed by offbeat music.

Including sound by Matt Boch and art by Bennett Foddy, the guy who made the pleasantly annoying Getting Over It, Ape Out will see you break free to become a nearly unstoppable force grabbing and using your prior captors as both weapons and shields as you gain momentum.

“Our team is pleased to finally announce a release date for one of our most anticipated titles ever in Ape Out,” said Devolver Digital CFO Fork Parker. “Frankly, it was a lot harder to motion capture an ape than we had originally thought and recording primates ripping human corpses apart is generally frowned upon in most countries.”

Ape Out brings the fight to its human captors 7th February 2019 releasing on PC and Switch.
