Fantasy RPG Outward gets release date

It’s time to dust off the great sword.

Deep Silver are at it again with another open-world where swords are a frequent necessity. Having teamed up with developer Nine Dots and Maximum Games, today the team have announced the release date for their upcoming title Outward. This open-world fantasy adventure casts the player as an ordinary adventurer, carving out their own story in a large and hostile environment. The game will be released onto PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and Steam on March 26th, 2019.

Alongside its new release date, the game has also received a new gameplay trailer, so we can see just what we might get up to in this RPG. From the developers perspective, Outward is not intended to be another fantasy tale focusing on a chosen one, instead they wanted to create an experience for the player that was more scaled back, and more immersive.

Implanting survival mechanics mean that players will have to pay attention to their characters needs and self-preservation in the harshest of climates. The game’s magic system will also focus more on the idea of rituals, rather than an innate magical power bestowed on the protagonist. Outward will also feature two-player local and online multiplayer, with local split-screen.

If fantasy RPGs are entirely your jam, keep an eye on Outward’s Steam page, where the game will be released on March 26th.
