Epic’s store next freebie is What Remains Of Edith Finch

The new Epic Games Store has been trying to make a statement ever since it was launched. Most of those efforts have come in the shape of very good free games to pick up. As of today users can get, for instance, the award-winning. ground breaking platformer Super Meat Boy for free. And today Eurogamer’s Tom Phillips revealed that next week, beginning on January 10th, none other than What Remains Of Edith Finch will be available to pick up for the time-lapse of two weeks.

The freebie department has been Epic’s main promotional aspect of their new store, in a market where they have to compete with established brands such as Steam and GOG. In order to do that, Epic seems to have embarked in a mission to give away unquestionably great indie games in order to get our attention and make us register to their service.

And as of today, they’ve been able to partner up with some seriously good developers in order to get this freebies going. First it was Subnautica, then none other than Super Meat Boy and now What Remains Of Edith Finch, one of the best walking simulators out there and an award-winning title for its seriously amazing storytelling.

What Remains Of Edith Finch is a narrative driven walking simulator through which players will get to know the eccentric story of each of the Finch’s family members by exploring their Washington estate, getting into each of their rooms and learning about their both tragic and comedic lives.

Giant Sparrow’s What Remains Of Edith Finch was awarded with 2018’s BAFTA Best Game accolade and Best Narrative at 2017’s The Game Awards, among others.
