Latest Atlas update makes consuming feces deadly

Seems like this should have been deadly all along.

Atlas developer Grapeshot Games is working on a patch scheduled for January 7 that’s meant to bring about plenty of changes for the game. One of them will make eating actual poop in-game kill you.

There are no other details on what kind of poop you have to eat to die, but given all the weird things going on in Atlas, who knows what that might refer to at this point?

Along with this strange tidbit is an exhaustive list of alterations coming to the game, which you’ll want to check out if you’ve been playing frequently. It’s had its fair share of frustrating features and fans haven’t been shy about taking to the internet to air their grievances ever since it debuted in December.

The update is a significant push to get Atlas on track and in the right direction, so while the poop-eating change is funny, it’s also a smaller part of a bigger set of updates overall. Resource requirements for ships have been lowered significantly, NPC ghost ship spawn rates have been lowered, and things should be a whole lot more pleasant in general.

If you’re patiently waiting for the game to improve, you may want to log in around January 7, as that’s when Patch 10.0 is planned to be deployed. It’ll be good to see an ambitious indie like this one get on with smooth sailing, since that’s all its players have been asking for, after all.
