Rebellion acquires indie veterans Ticktock Games

UK publisher and developer now consists of four studios.

This week it was announced that Yorkshire-based indie studio Ticktock Games has become part of Rebellion, another UK-based developer and publisher. Ticktock Games has previously worked with Rebellion on Rogue Trooper Redux and the Nintendo Switch version of their tank battle VR game Battlezone Gold Edition. Ticktock Games has been in the industry for the last 12 years and has partnered with the likes of Sony, BBC Worldwide and Microsoft on various projects during their time.

Rebellion currently has sister studios in Liverpool and Warwick and has its head office in Oxford. The acquisition of Ticktock Games now gives them a presence in the north of England, therefore, the new name Rebellion North.

The new branch of the studio is already hard at work creating some new games with a couple of announcement due during the course of 2019. Co-founder and CEO Jason Kingsley is excited about what the new year will bring with the addition of the team from Ticktock Games:

“The company continues to grow and it’s important we bring in the right people as part of that process. We’ve worked with the team at TickTock Games for a while now, and we know they’ll continue to prosper as Rebellion North.”

Last year was a great year for Rebellion. They released the Strange Brigade IP with great applause and acquired a facility to convert into a filming studio. It also became the custodian of the world’s largest catalogue of English language comic book IP. Who knows what that will bring in the future! The studio was also pleased to find out that co-founder and CTO Chris Kingsley was awarded an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for services to independent UK games development and the UK games industry.
