Slay the Spire adds Steam mod support

Official Steam Workshop support has gone live for Slay the Spire

Slay the Spire has been around in early access for quite some time now and, in that time, it has received thousands of positive reviews and praise so it is unsurprising why fans are so excited about today’s launch of Steam Workshop functionality. This is happening just in time as the early access phase is coming to an end on January 23rd when the game will go on general release.

There are currently 41 mods listed in the workshop and they range anywhere from new characters, such as The Disciple, The Slimebound and The Mystic, to extra cards for your deck. Of course, there are also mods which unlock all everything or make the game easier/harder. With so much work having gone into the modding side of the game by eager fans, it is no surprise that full mod support was going to arrive sooner or later.

For those of you who don’t know what Slay the Spire is, it is a single player deckbuilder game which encompasses a lot of roguelike elements. The aim is simple. You have to battle your way to the top of a spire by utilising a whole host of magic spells and abilities in your deck. The game is procedurally generated meaning no one game is the same. Even the foes you encounter and the cards that are drawn are different every time. At the moment there are three characters each of which has their own unique set of cards and fighting style. As mentioned above, modders have already created more characters to play but the developers themselves have more planned.

As well as the mod support functionality, this update also contains a lot of bug fixes and some minor UI changes. With only two weeks to go until official release, the developers are certainly making sure the game is ready to go!
