Spinnortality

Rule the corporate world with management sim Spinnortality

Rule the corporate world with an iron fist.

The cyberpunk management sim Spinnortality is hurtling toward a February 1 release for PC, Mac, and Linux, and its narrative is almost like looking into a mirror for our current society.

Solo developer James Patton’s management sim will have players founding a company and then manipulating the daily news cycle around said company in a dystopian cyberpunk society, all in an effort to “become immortal.” To get there, of course, you’ll need to spread fake news, start riots, and build up enough wealth and power so that you can become a monopoly and rule the globe. You’re about to become the god of a corporate empire, and you don’t care who stands in your way.

Here’s the official synopsis:

“Nations have merged into massive, politically stagnant super-states. Some are so-called “democracies”, some are dictatorships, and some are ultra-capitalist dystopias. These societies are in a state of flux; your company will determine their future. As head of a global megacorp, the player’s first priority is turning a profit. Before long, though, they will be manipulating politics, deregulating industries, and launching black ops to destabilise the globe.”

The game was brought to fruition via crowdfunding, and ended up clearing $16,000, going $6,000 over the initial asking price of $10,000. It’s said to offer 8 to 20 hours of playtime and plenty of intriguing mechanics like “sentient social media profiles” and “Metacritic for friendships.” Sounds like a weird, wild world indeed. Who knows if it’s indicative of the direction we’re actually heading in real life?

You can pick up Spinnortality on February 1, 2019 on PC.
