Gamedev.world aims to be the first global games conference

Gamedev.world will be an inclusive event streamed in various languages.

Vlambeer co-founder Rami Ismail and voice actress Sarah Elmaleh announced a global game developers’ conference called Gamedev.world on Twitter on Thursday.

The conference is scheduled to take place on June 21 and run through June 23. It will feature over 30 different speakers based around the world, and will be the first global games conference streamed live in the world’s eight biggest language. It’s meant to help people “gain a global perspective on the art and business of game creation,” and will feature special talks, Q&A sessions, and a variety of other programming.

The languages the conference will be streamed in include Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. The convention came about as a reaction to previous visa rejections and issues with speakers traveling to the events being turned away. After experiencing issues where at least four panelists invited to speak on Ismail’s #1ReasontoBe panel had to cancel due to issues traveling to the United States, Ismail had the idea to create this inclusive organization and event.

Gamedev.world will be a free affair and available to stream fo free on a variety of different live-streaming platforms, with speakers, sponsors, and events lined out for the event being announced at a later date. If you’re interested in watching it all unfold, keep it locked to The Indie Game Website for additional details once they roll out.
