Genesis Alpha One brings space action to the Epic Store

Join the Genesis program to save humanity.

The Team 17-published Genesis Alpha One from Radiation Blue is available today on the Epic Games Store, though you’ll have to wait until January 2020 if you want to grab it via Steam.

The indie rogue like in space opted to debut on Epic’s storefront, but now that it’s out, you can give it a try and see how you like it. As an interstellar pioneer, it’s your job to take control of a Genesis starship and journey into vast, uncharted space on a mission to find a new home for humanity’s DNA. Otherwise, humanity could very well go extinct.

There’s a lot to do in-game, especially if you’re into titles like Subnautica or isometric roguelike affairs. For one, you can build and manage your own “intergalactic ark” by way of combining several upgradable spaceship modules and keep your crew happy. You’ll also have to defend it from various aliens, with weapons like turrets, shotguns, rifles, grenade launchers, and more. There’s a wide variety of things to do, and depending on what you’re interested in, you’ll probably be entertained throughout.

Our own Juan Manuel Fontan reviewed Genesis Alpha One, awarding it a 7/10. Here’s what he thought:

“Genesis Alpha One is an ambitious triple-I game that, even though it relies too much on continuously repetitive and similar-looking activities, provides a deep, engaging and challenging experience thanks to its great visuals, some surprises along the way and gameplay mechanics that quickly become natural and intuitive.”
