Kholat free for limited time on Steam

Explore this bleak adventure narrated by Sean Bean.

To make the 60th anniversary of the mysterious and haunting 1959 Dyatlov Pass Incident, Kholat, a narrative adventure game based on the event, will be free on Steam this week.

Kholat explores the Dyatlov Pass incident, which saw the mysterious death of nine Russian hikers, creating an adventure game with elements of horror and intrigue. Out of the nine hikers, six died from hypothermia while the other three showed signs of physical trauma, leading to all sorts of far fetched theories on their demise. In Kholat the player is immediately cast out into the harsh and unforgiving terrain of the Ural Mountains, with a task to find out what happened with these unfortunate hikers. You’ll come across several hypothesises, some more far fetched than the rest.

Set in a strange open-world, it’s best to expect the unexpected when it comes to this strange game. The player navigates using just a map and a compass, and must find their own way in this non-linear story. The bleak art design and immersive music make for a tense and chilling atmosphere. With a runtime of 4-6 hours, theres plenty of routes to discover in this weird narrative.

Kholat will be free for this week on Steam.
