Celebrating the Chinese New Year with Overcooked 2

The fastpaced kitchen game gets a free Oriental themed update

Today marks the Chinese Lunar New Year and welcomes the year of the Pig. In celebration, renowned publishers Team 17 and indie developer Ghost Town Games have today launched a new DLC for their hit game Overcooked 2. And the best part of it is that the update is free! It is now live on PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC and Xbox One.

There is a whole load of fun additions to the game in this update including:

  • Seven themed kitchens complete with new hazards and features such as Koi carp ponds and dancing dragons
  • New fruit platter and hot pot recipes
  • A new kitchen mechanic in the form of giant woks which you have to keep moving over lit fires so they continue to bubble
  • Two themed chefs ready to take on the mayhem. One being a Chinese Dragon and the other, quite fittingly, is a Pig.

In addition to the themed content, the game now introduces a Survival Mode. In Survival Mode, you need to get out as many dishes as you can within a given time frame. Each correct dish adds a few seconds to the clock. So the more dishes you can put out, the more time you have to survive. The new mode is available in the main game, the Surf n’ Turf DLC and all seasonal content.

This isn’t the first free seasonal update for Overcooked 2. During the winter they released a festive themed DLC, called Kevin’s Christmas Cracker, which was complete with mince pies and snowmen.

As previously mentioned, the Chinese New Year update is available now across all platforms. To find out more information about the game or available DLCs, head to the Steam page or console store of your choice!
