THQ Nordic acquires Kingdom Come: Deliverance Devs Warhorse Studios

Gotta catch them all.

THQ Nordic have today announced that they have acquired Warhorse Studios, the developers behind the popular medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The deal is reportedly worth €33.2 million. The acquisition includes the studio itself as well as all IPs.

Martin Fryvaldsky, CEO of Warhorse Studios, said of the deal: ”Becoming part of THQ Nordic family is an important milestone for our studio. We began as a small start-up with a handful of employees who were enthusiastic enough to join this challenging project. (…) We believe that backing by THQ Nordic and Koch Media will give us an extra push in our mission to bring exciting games to our customers and extend the frontiers of the gaming industry.”

Since its release Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which started life as a Kickstarter campaign, has sold over 2 million copies across consoles and PC and has released a few additional DLCs. CEO of THQ Nordic AB, Lars Wingefors, has also commented, Warhorse Studios is one of the leading independent studios in Europe and I am proud to welcome them to the THQ Nordic group. I look forward to continuing to witness the owners run the studio and drive the creative process for many years.”

We look forward to the new projects that emerge from Warhorse Studios in the wake of this new acquisition.
