Dead Cells gets massive update for consoles

Switch owners will enjoy the much awaited “60 FPS everywhere or death” improvement.

Dead Cells

The platformer hit from indie developers at Motion Twin, Dead Cells, has received a massive update that’s now live on Playstation 4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch. The patch notes include an all-new custom game mode that grants more control over gameplay and progression.

The new game mode allows for a sort of gameplay customization, giving players the possibility of unlocking and re-locking items and further changes to the game’s rules. Most of these updates, as Motion Twin’s latest press release informs, have been designed and implemented after the reception and processing of “an astounding number of player suggestions”.

The notes also talk about the removing of “mob auto-scaling”, fixing the game’s difficulty on every level according to which mode is active at the time. Brutality and Tactic’s HP scaling has also been modified, preventing one-shot deaths at increased difficulty. “Tactics HP levels have been raised to 30, and Brutality’s HP cap has been raised from level 14 to level 45”, reads the update presser.

Users playing on their Nintendo Switch will now enjoy a “60 FPS everywhere or death” optimization which, the developers admitted, took much longer to achieve than they expected. The full patch notes can be read in this official update post.

Additionally, Motion Twin stated that they’re working on further content for Dead Cells, news of which can be found on its official website.
