Darkest Dungeon 2 teased with icy new trailer

Time to explore an even darker dungeon, if you can imagine that.

Red Hook Studios is bringing back the challenging Lovecraftian role-playing game Darkest Dungeon, and that’s great news for everyone who may have missed its austere gameplay (or just hasn’t stopped playing).

The official reveal trailer gives us the shivers, but for a variety of reasons. “In the howling darkness of the end, men will become monsters,” says the trailer. “But hope will ride with those courageous enough to carry the flame.” The video shows a snowy, mountainous landscape and six characters from the first game: the Leper, the Hellion, the Highwayman, the Plague Doctor, the Man-at-Arms, and the Grave Robber.”

Darkest Dungeon first debuted on PC in 2016, and later made an appearance on consoles. It’s unclear if Darkest Dungeon 2 will show up on consoles first with the PC version, but you can bet we’ll probably see it expanding if not. The sequel will include a similar turn-based combat system to the first game, but an expanded meta game to make things a little different.

There’s no real info on where the game will be set this time around, either, but there’s talk of a terrifying apocalypse and “distorted” areas to accomplish. We can’t wait to see what the future brings. For now though, you can feast your eyes on the teaser trailer and everything it’s brought with it, because it’s definitely enough to get the excitement going. Let us know if you’re excited for trying the game out when it finally debuts in Early Access!
