Epic Games secures horror adventure Close to the Sun

Storm in a Teacup’s indie title is now available for pre-purchase.

Italian indie developers at Storm in a Teacup, together with publishers at Wired Productions, announced today an agreement with Epic Games to release through their store the upcoming horror adventure game Close to the Sun, which is available as of today for pre-purchase and will be released for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

Close to the Sun is a horror adventure game that tells the story of a journalist called Rose aboard the colossal ship Helios, built by Nikola Tesla and filled with his inventions and an eerie atmosphere. Corpses, messages painted in blood on the walls, electric fields and a mysterious voyage awaits in this experience built with the Unreal 4 engine. The graphic software used for this game represents a change for Storm in a Teacup, studio that had been using Unity up until now. The partnership with Epic Games, owners of Unreal 4, reflects a deep partnership between both sides.

“Our relationship with Epic and the decision to use the Unreal Engine have provided fantastic opportunities for our studio, enabling a greater creative freedom and the ability to double-down on quality for our games. To launch on the Epic games store feels like the perfect next step and we are delighted that our partnerships with both Wired Productions and Epic Games will help propel Close to the Sun to achieve our ambitions”, said Carlo Ivo Alimo Bianchi, CEO & Founder at Storm in a Teacup.

In Close to the Sun Rose will be defenseless and weaponless as she tries to survive her trip aboard the Helios, searching for her sister Ada amidst a large number of puzzles and challenges that need to be solved in order to progress in this dark place hosted by Nikola Tesla. Running, hiding and quick thinking are going to be three important skills for players that dare step in the Helios.

The final release date for Close to the Sun hasn’t been announced yet, but it will be on 2019. Meanwhile, pre-purchase is now available through the Epic Games Store.
