Night Call is the best looking noir thriller you’ve never heard of

Paris looks best in black and white.

Night Call is the next upcoming 2019 summer release from developers Monkey Moon, Black Muffin and publishers Raw Fury and you absolutely should know about it.

In this noir thriller, there’s a killer on the loose on the streets of Paris, and you’re in a unique position to find out who that might be. As a taxi driver in the gloomy city, you’re in the perfect place to learn the stories of the locals, and hopefully piece together the clues concerning the frequent murders.

In Night Call, players must juggle two tasks, finding out more about the mysterious murders and earning enough money to pay the bills. With each shift in the game beginning at night and ending in the day, this noir world takes on the seedy atmosphere of the city. Before long the police start to take notice of your skills, and when they do, they might just ask for your help. Choose the right customers to pick up, and ask them the right questions, and the mystery will unfold before you. But can you solve it in time?

From the trailer it looks to be another beautifully presented hit from Raw Fury, with the black and white scenes somehow still looking vibrant despite the lack of colour. All locations in the game are hand-drawn and the artistry in each frame really shines.

Mathieu Collangettes, one of two head artists on the game said; “Of course, our influences come from many classical noir movies, but our main inspiration comes from the French movie La Haine, a contemporary black and white movie with a great vision of Paris suburbs (…). In that film, Paris is also a character; that’s what we’re trying to do in Night Call.”

Night Call is certainly a title to watch, with an intriguing story and even more interesting world. You can have a look on it Steam page to find out more.
