Pathologic 2

The world’s weirdest horror game returns in Pathologic 2

The long-awaited sequel to the strange and surreal original.

The grim, tragic streets of Pathologic are back. Russian indie developers at Ice-Pick Lodge are releasing today the sequel to their highly praised atmospheric survival thriller Pathologic, a cult classic renowned for its unorthodox storytelling and dark themes.

To me, Pathologic was like playing a game born out of Dostoevsky’s twisted mind, coming at our consciences with a good old tragedy tale set in a small town where a disease is ravaging the local population. We start the game as one of three characters entering this almost forgotten village that’s being devoured by a mysterious illness. We have 12 days to figure out what’s going on and find out if there’s a way to prevent this disaster.

And, like every other classic Russian tragedy, things don’t go so well. Pathologic tapped into players’ psyche and pinched their emotions, configuring a dramatic psychological experience. If you’ve never played it, then you should definitely check its HD remastered version out. You won’t be disappointed but maybe a little confused.

And, for those of you who know about this masterpiece, the good news is that you get to experience a completely new tale from Ice-Pick Lodge. Today, Pathologic 2 – Part 1 is being released for PC through Steam. The same old tough choices and disturbing hopeless situations return in a new tale.

Lots of things are basically the same as in the first title: scarce resource management, hunger and sanity checking, complex and dynamic dialogues and a journey from which there’s no way to tell how we’ll come out. Our enemy is invisible and puts a timer on us, again just 12 days to rescue what and who we can.

With better graphics and a darker than ever atmosphere, Pathologic 2 will definitely be the psychological roller coaster we expect it to be. Let’s hope and see how it unfolds.
