Layers of Fear 2

Finally, Layers of Fear 2 is in our lives

I’m ready for the performance of a lifetime.

Bloober Team has yet to release a bad game. Even a mediocre one would do. Up until now, these talented Polish indie developers have only provided the industry with glorious games. They truly tapped at my inner Blade Runner with their cyberpunk mystery horror game Observer. But their first big appearance in the indie environment was Layers of Fear.

Layers of Fear was released back in 2016 and holds groundbreaking review records all over the place. This chilling, narrative-driven horror walking simulator told the story of a mad painter looking to complete his masterpiece. His mansion is filled with clues about his life and his relationships with his wife, associates, critiques, and friends. Glimpses of his twisted mind let the players uncover what’s his magnum opus all about and what will it take to complete it.

We talked with Bloober Team about Layers of Fear’s inspirations and the concept of hidden horror in this interview.

Layers of Fear 2

Now it’s time for the performance of a lifetime. Layers of Fear 2 is out today and man am I excited. This time we’ll take the role of an actor who’s been summoned to an ocean liner in what it seems are the 50s’ decade. He’ll be part of a new film which will be rolled inside this ship, and he’ll have to provide his absolute best performance.

But, as we all know, nothing is what it seems. Layers of Fear 2 will most definitely be one more psychedelic horror experience for us who love being afraid while walking on narrow corridors and seeing a turn up ahead. But Bloober Team hasn’t made a name for itself by the power of jump-scares and cheap horror techniques. Layers of Fear as a franchise relies on much deeper sensorial experiences, tapping into our minds and making us remember what we never wanted to go back to.

I sincerely hope Layers of Fear 2 lives up to what its predecessor built and to Bloober Team’s already clear talent and vision. Today’s a great day for a shocking performance.

Layers of Fear 2 is being released for PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
