The exciting EA E3 2019 indie announcement you might have missed

Rule of three.

We thought there might be some intriguing indie news coming out of E3 2019, but somehow didn’t expect it to come from the mouth of FIFA itself. In Saturday’s EA Play presentation, after the livestream itself was over, EA announced three new original indie titles that would be releasing in the near future. Here’s what you might have missed.

First up is Zoink Studios with Lost in Random, which EA described as “a blend of strategy and action that explores the notion of chance and possibility”. If any studio could pull that off, we know it will be Zoink, the creators of similarly beautiful Fe. With a similar gorgeous art style employed, Fe featured a protagonist with a cute little yowl and tenacious temperament. If this studio can imbrue a hedgehog-like creature with personality, we can’t wait to see what they do with their next characters.

Glowmade, creators of mobile game Wonder Worlds, are behind the second title, RustHeart. On Glowmade’s website they describe the game as a “co-op Action-RPG” thatfollows the player and their handmade robot sidekick as they adventure across a vibrant, alien multiverse.” What’s most intriguing is their final summation: “a compelling mix of tactical action-roleplay gameplay, player invention and spray paint. ” Spray paint? Is this going to be an even more sci-fi Splatoon? We hope so.

The last project is currently unnamed, but is coming from the studio that brought us co-op A Way Out; Hazelight Studios. We don’t know much about this title for now, but with some snippets of Mo-Cap shown in the above video, we’re hoping this title will feature more of what the studio does best.

Keep an eye on the site for more updates on these titles and all the best indie bits from E3.
