Roguelite Unexplored is getting a moebius-style sequel and it’s beautiful

Who knew roguelites could be so pretty?

E3 2019 gives bountifully once again, this time with a stunning moebius-styled roguelite, Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer’s Legacy. Building on the foundations of the critically acclaimed first iteration, Unexplored, the sequel seeks to explore the roguelite/RPG mechanics of the original even further, with an even more expansive world.

And what a beautiful world it is. We may have had an influx of moebius-shaded games as of late (Sable being perhaps the first title to recently really take off on this trend), but with art as breathtaking as this, you can’t really complain. The map is procedurally generated, and rather than crawling through dungeons, it is this vast and vibrant world that you will be exploring. Although, there are still some dungeons dotted about. Your ultimate task is to destroy the Staff of Yendor, which sounds very impressive. How you go about that, remains a mystery. With the team mentioning on the Steam page that the player might need to keep an eye on their rations (“Do you have enough provisions to venture through a desert?”), we think there might be some survival mechanics in play too. We’ll have to see.

To get people even more enthused about its release, the developers Ludomotion have created an Open Access campaign launched on crowdfunding platform Fig, which gives backers immediate access to a pre-alpha test demo. So if you want to test your skills straight away, now is as good a time as any.

Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer’s Legacy is set to release on 2020, keep an eye on it’s Steam page for more info.
