Falcon Age shows off everything that can be achieved with VR

You can pet the bird.

We’ve seen Falcon Age dotted around twitter for a few months now and everytime it’s appeared on the old feed, we’ve stopped to take a moment to gaze at it. Outerloop Games are practically wizards when it comes to social media, and that has certainly helped their game creep into our vision again and again. Take for example, this recent video:

They just know what they’re doing. But it’s more than just their ability to jump on a meme that’s caught our attention. With their fairly open approach to game development over the past year, we have seen what it has taken to get this little falcon on your finger moving and grooving like a real life bird. Falcon Age has specially been developed for PS VR and the attention to detail when it comes to the falcon’s movement and how you can control it, are delightful to behold. It’s compatible with Move Controllers or DualShock4, with the developers aiming to make the game flexible to suit players style of VR play. They’re so flexible in fact, that Falcon Age has now also been released on PC and PC VR, exclusive to the Epic Store.

Falcon Age

The game follows the story of Ara, a woman wrongfully jailed for some minor incident. While in jail, Ara manages to befriend a young falcon, and together they make an escape. The outside world is not as it should be, and the colony planet that Ara has known as home has been eradicated of its own history. Now, robots rule, and its up to them to help the people of this land reclaim their freedom.

As the game goes on, you can customise your tiny ride-or-die with a series of costumes, teaching it tricks that are instantly sharable on the old social platforms. Hunt with your falcon, bond with it and craft it some snacks. It’s like having a living furby but without the general demonic presence.

To find out more about Falcon Age, head on over to the Epic Store where it is now available for PC and PC VR. If you happen to have a PS VR, the game was specifically optimised for that system, so absolutely give it a whirl.
