Indie dev at EGX cosplays as his own game

Marketing an indie game is hard and often expensive but creative duo, miniBeast Games came up with the ultimate solution to get their game at EGX this year. The plucky pair built a fully functional arcade unit that could run their game, Must Dash Amigos and wore it right into the show as a cosplay.

The two-man team behind this impressively creative idea hail from Cambridge, England with lead artist on the game, Anthony Brunton-Douglas designing the themed, wearable cabinet.

“There are so many awesome gaming events that we’d love to attend but the price soon adds up. We wanted to think of a way we could afford to go to more and this felt like the best solution,” said Brunton-Douglas.

It wasn’t just for show either, no pun intended, the game was 100% playable although I imagine he had to stand very still once people were playing. I hope he wore some comfortable shoes.

Must Dash Amigos is a tongue and cheek take on the battle racer genre that drops the go-carts for two-legged locomotion but retains much else of what you’d expect from a game similar to Mario Kart in style. So, as you can imagine it really suits a pickup and play style which is a great fit now it can be played literally anywhere.

Must Dash Amigos is out now on the Xbox Store and Steam. The Nintendo Switch version is currently planned for December 2019.
