The Best 5 Upcoming Indie Games February
Cute Conan, the undead, and awkward dates
Can you believe it’s already 2021? Wow, last year dragged a bit, but we got here. Wait; what? It’s only February, what horrific time-loop did we get stuck in last month? Well, nothing to do now but carry on regardless, so we may as well take a look at some of the great titles we can expect to get our hands on this month.
5. Conan Chop Chop
It’s always refreshing to see a new take on a classic character, at least. Well, not always refreshing, sometimes it’s horrifying, it really depends where on the internet you are at the time.
Conan Chop Chop is a unique take on the barbarian that has cute coming out of every open wound. You can adventure around the world with up to 4 people in a quest to cut everything to shreds and cover each level in gore. It looks like an intense amount of fun, plus, it started out as an April Fools joke.
We all love a good hack and slash game, but the roguelike elements and cute visuals could put Conan Chop Chop near the top of the list when it releases on Steam, Xbox One, PS4, and Switch on February 25th.
4. Kunai
Kunai puts you in the shoes of Tabby, a sentient tablet who has decided to fight against the robot uprising. An A.I. called Lemonkus has caused the world to fall into ruin as it wages a war against humanity.
Aside from a stunning visual style, the action is what makes Kunia look so appealing. You use a mix of ninja skills, parkour, and unlockable abilities and weapons to explore the world and take down all sorts of robotic monsters. It should be a fast-paced and challenging Metroidvania, and lord knows we love a good one of those.
Kunai is cutting its way onto PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on February 6th.
3. Table Manners
Dating is hard. I was going to make a joke about how dating would be hard even if you looked like Henry Cavill, but well, it’s probably not. For those of us that don’t look like we were carved out of marble, dating is a tiring and stressful experience; sure it’s fun, but not all the time.
Table Manners has you controlling a single disembodied hand. Your aim is simple, perform some incredible simple tasks without messing up. However, the whole point of the game is that you have too much control over that hand, so you need to manage elevation, pitch, speed, and grip while trying to do things like pouring a drink. It sounds so simple, but it’s not.
Table Manners will be knocking over drinks on Steam as of February 14th.
2. Necronator: Dead Wrong
Too long have we had to wonder what would happen if you combined deck-building with RTS and comedy. Well, no more do we have to wonder, all thanks to Necronator: Dead Wrong.
The whole premise of Necronator: Dead Wrong is absurd, but that’s what makes it look so entertaining. You command groups of units to try and conquer the region of Livmore, and you can do this as multiple different commanders, all with different abilities. It’s designed to be very fast-paced while also requiring you to keep your tactical wits about you if you want to win.
You too can summon the dead when Necronator: Dead Wrong comes to Steam on February 13th.
1. World Of Horror
World of Horror is described as being a 1-bit love letter to Junji Ito. If you’re a fan of horror, then that’s probably enough for you to go on. However, if you want a little more info, then we’ve got you covered.
The Old Ones are up to their usual tricks and have begun sowing chaos throughout a small seaside town in Japan. World of Horror is a roguelike RPG that has you facing off against unspeakable evils and unfathomable entities, and it does so while looking unlike anything else you’ve played. Not only that, but it has multiple characters to play as and a variety of different stories to explore, so it will last you a long time.
You too can fight against tentacles and stuff when World of Horror enters Steam Early Access on February 20th.
Not a bad month at all, especially when you consider that Darksiders Genesis, Two Point Hospital, and Hunt: Showdown are all releasing on different platforms this month too. There’ll probably be some hentai games as well, but if we tried to cover all of those it’d have some kind of horrific effect on our view of the world.
