How Do You Like It, Elon Musk? Sounds Great

Don’t let your memes be dreams

They say you never stop learning, for example, last week I learned what TIL means. Life is a process, a journey; it’s a constant lesson, one with no tests, no do-overs, and no mock exams. TIL that How do you like it, Elon Musk? is actually a meme, and an excellent one at that. It has its roots in a joke tweeted out by StalinGulag on Twitter, who posted a news story about physicists MacGuyvering some equipment together to smoke some herring in a nuclear collider.

It was posted with the message “and what are you going to answer to THAT, Elon Musk? You’re going to die of jealous again over our country’s scientific accomplishments!”. All of the information is in a post by Vicki Boykis, alongside an incredible good image of the infamous billionaire.

It all led to a slew of Russian people posting images with their own makeshift solutions to issues, all with variations on the phrasing of “how do you like that, Elon Musk”, and “how do you like it, Elon Musk?”. It’s a legitimately excellent meme, especially as Elon Musk seemingly responded in very good Russian to one of the pictures.

Anyway, How do you like it, Elon Musk? is now a video game launching into Early Access on February 20th. It has you building up your own space program by designing your own spacecrafts, launching them yourself, and exploring space itself. It’s also modelled to scale, which is an astounding undertaking in and of itself. I’ve no idea if the game is going to be good, but I have a deep respect for this kind of commitment to the bit.
