Wings Interactive Set Up GDC Relief Fund

Get some help

You have almost definitely heard about the Coronavirus or COVID-19. A flu-like virus that has been sweeping across the globe at a fairly fast rate and is generally making things a bit horrible for thousands of people. People are being quarantined, the American health system is failing miserably, and things are getting cancelled all over the place too.

While it’s hardly the most serious result of this virus, GDC has also been cancelled. GDC is a yearly event that sees vast waves of people descending onto the Moscone Center in San Francisco to meet up, do business deals, and give really interesting talks. It’s a pillar of the games development calendar, and one that, while not perfect, serves a fairly important purpose. GDC has been postponed this year which is less than ideal, but it also means that there are lots of indie developers who are very much out of pocket as a result of the costs sunk into the event, and while a big company might be able to just shrug that off, most indie companies can’t.

Well,  Wings Interactive, a new games label, has teamed up with a bunch of games companies to create a GDC Relief Fund. This means that if you’re one of the developers who has been hit by this issue, you might be able to get some financial help to see you through it. It’s important to get the word out about these kind of things, so that’s exactly what we’re doing. If you’ve been affected by GDC being cancelled, make sure to check out the relief fund as linked above, and maybe they can help.
