Atomicrops Asks You To Farm, Marry, Kill Soon

Isn’t it normally a different F word?

The humdrum of day-to-day life has lead to a massive resurgence of games like Stardew Valley and Rune Factory 4. There’s something enticing about just leaving everything behind and starting anew. Just forget your boring job, move into a massive farmhouse and meet new and interesting people, maybe even find love. It’s escapism in its purest form, and it’s something that Atomicrops taps into as well.

You’re given the farm of a deceased relative in their will. You move there, it seems awesome, and you’re overwhelmed with joy. Then, a nuclear apocalypse hits and suddenly everything is a little less relaxing. This little twist means that this isn’t just another farming simulator, but a roguelike action game that is also a farming simulator. If you’re wondering how on earth that works, then you should probably just check the game out.

It’s been in Early Access for a fair while now, but the full release is coming up on May 28th. Which means you’ve only got a little over a month to wait if you’re hoping to play on a console instead of a PC. Of course, if you’re on PC, you could always just jump in now and get a month’s worth of practice in before it all gets that little bit more polished. Either way, this is a great parody of an entertaining genre, and I, for one, am very much looking forward to picking up my hoe and seeing how it goes.
