Hello Games’ New Game Is Nothing Like No Man’s Sky

It’s easy to forget that the people behind No Man’s Sky might actually want to make other games. It’s even easier to forget that they actually do make other games too. One such example is The Last Campfire, which is an upcoming puzzle game that is a hand-crafted story made especially for you, me, and basically everyone to enjoy. It’s a very big change of pace from the studio that very recently gave us a little taste of Dead Space in their “gigantic universe simulator” game.

The Last Campfire appears to be an incredibly heartfelt story where you follow along with a sentient pillow who wants to cuddle everyone and occasionally light campfires. My assumption is that these are very different from bonfires, which are all too frequently seen in Soulslikes. Anyway, it looks like an incredibly cute game and given how good No Man’s Sky is, any other games they release are definitely worth paying attention to.

I’ve got a lot of time for this style of puzzle game. Generally speaking, puzzle games stress me out. If you get stuck on one and nobody else has played it, guess what, you’re stuck. Having a really cute aesthetic takes the edge off of that massively. It means that simply existing in that world is kind of calming, and that usually leads to puzzles that don’t end up making me want to quit playing games for the rest of my life. The best thing about it is that it’s out on the 27th of August on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Apple Arcade.
