The Dungeon Of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet Of Chaos tips

The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos is a hefty comedy fantasy RPG based on a long-running French language audio and comic with a fairly in-depth tactical combat system. This suite of The Dungeon Of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet Of Chaos tips should go some way to helping you combat the denizens of the dungeons, so long as the Ogre doesn’t mistake them for food.

The Dungeon Of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet Of Chaos tips and tricks

Teamwork makes the dream work

Early on in combat your heaviest hitters, the Barbarian and The Ogre, have lousy accuracy. Characters gain a bonus to hit when they are targeting a character another player is adjacent to, meaning you’ll want to create a spearhead out of your melee characters, gaining up on enemies to mitigate the failure rate of stronger hits. Build your damage dealers to take advantage of this too, by giving them AoE attacks and focus on giving them Stun on Damage in the skill tree.

Pull yourself up by your belt straps

In the loot piles and stores of the dungeon, you’ll eventually find belts for your characters to wear, potions to swig, and bombs to throw. Prioritise making sure everyone has a belt equipped, as it allows them to use consumables in combat. Having an extra heal available is useful, but the real winner is bombs: they hit a 3×3 area with no chance of missing, have a chance to burn enemies, and also destroy any crates and cover in the environment, allowing you to flush out enemies and trigger the various elemental barrels in the environment: covering the floor in slippy beer or toxic poison.

Opportunity knocks

Characters who aren’t stunned or debuffed have the ability to perform Attacks of Opportunity enemies that enter or exit the three squares in front of them, which whilst prone to missing, is something you should factor into your positioning. You can also exploit this by using attacks which let you shove your opponents around, as this movement will also trigger your attacks of opportunity – it’s often best to set your party up around enemies to catch them when they move, or force them to move through other means. Take advantage of this to harry ranged characters, as they can’t use their more powerful attacks if you are standing next to them, so they’ll want to move, giving you free hits! Who doesn’t love free hits?

When life gives you lemons…

Love it or hate it, random chance is something that will mean you will come at a goblin, and miss, which is disastrous especially when you explicitly don’t want to do that. Still, every failure charges up your Randomia gauge which gives you a few abilities such as increased precision, an extra turn with a character, or the ability to teleport one of your party elsewhere. Spend them every chance you get, as misses come thick and fast, and an extra action that fails will generate some more random chance benefits.

Gaming the game

After every combat, you have the opportunity to heal up all your wounds and lost health by consuming a bunch of potions and bandages, a limited and potentially costly resource. Once you’ve unlocked the Tavern on the second floor of the dungeon, this is something you can easily ignore – simply return to the Tavern and spend a measly 50gp to heal up to full. It’s a bit of a trudge, but it’s better than limping along with wounds and missing hit points because you ran out of consumables. Make sure you talk to everyone you can in the Tavern too, as there are a few simple sidequests there that will give you a nice XP and cash injection.
