Hades Might Be One Of The Best Roguelikes Ever

Hades has finally fully released. It’s always been a good roguelike game, but the full release cements it as something truly special. The thing that really makes Hades stand out, at least for me, is the way it weaves its story into every aspect of the game. A lot of roguelikes basically decide against having a story at all, or even if they do include one it can be hard to pick up and follow or all subtextual. That’s fine, but the fact that the story here is at the forefront really does make Hades standout.

Of course, there’s also the fact that it’s a lot of fun to play too. It’s hard to want to replay a game over and over again just because the story slowly unravels itself, but when the gameplay is good, it’s much easier to understand. You inevitably have to go through the same fights multiple times, but they’re always a little different because of the build you’ll end up with, or just the bosses themselves.

Basically, Hades is really good, and you should play it. That’s a much easier thing to do now that the game is on Switch too. You’ve got to love how Nintendo just stealth drops games of this calibre via a mini-direct like it’s nothing. Honestly, I don’t think they care about doing anything in the normal way, they just want to flex constantly because they can. Anyway, get Hades, it’s excellent and you’ll be missing out if you don’t play it.
