Crystal Chasers League Could Be An Indie Diddy Kong Racing

I really like kart racing games. There’s just a really specific kind of joy to be found by chucking items at each other and trying to hop over grass in a cutesy world filled with lovable characters. I also really miss Diddy Kong Racing, which is probably, in my opinion, the best kart racer of all time thanks to the mix-ups it played around with. Because of this, I’m pretty excited about Crystal Chasers League and its intriguing take on online multiplayer games.

Now, you may not have heard of this game, and that’s fine, but I think it could be worth keeping an eye on. It’s basically an online multiplayer game that dabbles in a variety of different game modes including kart races, crystal captures, and even battles. You can do all of this on foot, using jetpacks, in cars, or even in places. There’s something enticing about this promise of freedom, and I really hope it turns out as good as it sounds.

It’s the kind of game I can imagine jumping into for half an hour each night just to relax. The kind of thing you can easily imagine taking off with younger gamers too thanks to its cute characters and varied game modes. I like knowing that these games are still coming out, because in the face of titans like Roblox, it’s got to be rather daunting to enter the arena. Crystal Chasers should be hitting Early Access this year and then fully releasing next year on consoles.
