Woodsalt Is A Cute Game Where Everything Is Probably Horrible

I’m not saying that Woodsalt is a game that’s lying to you, but actually, that might be what I’m saying. Set in a future where the Earth has been evacuated after horrific natural disasters and an attack by giant creatures, you play as Emcy. Human beings have evacuated to a planet called Nu-Terra, and Emcy is one of the Earth-born humans who has been woken up from a big old stasis induced sleep. As more people wake up and people adjust to this new world, humanity is a little split as some people want to go back home, and others are happy where they are.

You’ll have to guide Emcy through this strange situation and figure out how to talk to the people around you, navigate the branching storylines, and eventually wind up at one of multiple endings. It’s a cool idea, and while the graphical style is quite cute, there’s definitely an uncomfortable and unsettling undertone to everything in the game so far. That’s partially because Emcy has been having visions from a source that nobody else can interact with, but there’s also conspiracies abound too.

If this all sounds like the kind of game you’re interested in, then you’ll be happy to know that Woodsalt comes out December 9th. That makes it one of the few games coming out in December, and I think it’s probably one to pay attention to. Of course, if you’d rather not play something that’ll make you constantly look over your digital shoulder, we understand that too.
