Could Earth Defense Force Be The Next Smash Bros?
Look, I’m just excited about the prospect of Earth Defense Force: World Brothers getting crossover characters. There are only a few games in existence that bring me the kind of primal joy that EDF manages, and I’m really excited about both EDF 6 and EDF: World Brothers. While the former is a classic entry, the latter is a strange voxel-based one that has you rescuing different members of the EDF from a broken world as it falls to pieces. That is basically the reason that we got this tweet from Devolver Digital:

I’ve no idea if this is a serious tweet or something that could actually happen, but I adore the concept of running around in an EDF game as characters not in the games. Imagine all of the characters who could fit into a voxelly world like this one, and all of the abilities or fun they could bring with them. Even if it was just a matter of it being a skin it would be cool, and I’d love to see World Brothers being one of those games filled to the brim with other indie characters.
It might not happen, but I’m going to go ahead and live in a world where it does, at least in my head. I realise this is a fair bit different to what we normally do in the Daily Dose articles, but I couldn’t not write about one of my favourite gaming franchises. That would be dishonest, and nobody like that is going to make it into the valiant infantry.
