Review Round Up: Tinkertown, Drawn To Life, And More
The year is over. In all seriousness, congratulations for making it through this absolute mess of a year. I don’t think anybody was expecting 2020 to be quite as bad as it has been, and making it to the end in one piece is an incredible accomplishment and I’m proud of you for doing it. It doesn’t matter if you’ve not done anything else, because the conditions we’ve all been under this year have been inhumane, to say the least. In a complete swerve, let’s talk about some games now that I’ve been all sincere and stuff.
Tinkertown Early Access
Tinkertown is in Early Access at the moment, but it’s got a lot of promise. While everything it does on its own isn’t all that revolutionary, its combination of a survival game and more classic RPG mechanics makes for a fun little game. I think the combat needs a little work to stop you just kiting everything, but it’s still enjoyable to play anyway. I think Tinkertown will be one to watch as it grows, because I think it’ll probably become something very impressive.

The Wind And Wilting Blossom
I actually played this earlier in the year when it hit Early Access, but I didn’t have a chance to write about it. Now that it’s out, I can safely say it’s one of the best-looking games I’ve played this year. The artwork is absolutely stunning, and it’s matched by the rather excellent combat and game design too. If you’re looking for another roguelike to add to the pile then The Wind and Wilting Blossom be what you’re after.

Alba: A Wildlife Adventure
Sometimes you just need to kick back and relax. Also, sometimes that happens to involve starting a revolution and saving a wildlife reserve on the way. Both of those sometimeses occur in Alba: A Wildlife Adventure, and it’s just absolutely bloody wonderful. In a year that’s constantly tried to beat you down, this is an excellent panacea to the poison of the world.

Drawn To Life: Two Realms
I’ve got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that Drawn to Life is back. The bad news is that it’s not as good as it was, and that hits pretty hard if you’ve been waiting for it. Drawn to Life: Two Realms is still an enjoyable enough game, but it lacks some of the heart that made the older games so enjoyable. There’s fun to be had, but I’m not certain it’s worth putting up with some of the more frustrating gameplay choices. Sorry.

Worms Rumble
I had some trepidation heading into Worms Rumble, and while I wouldn’t necessarily call it a revelation, it’s still an entertaining time. It’s a bit odd seeing Worms in real-time moving about and at a fast pace, but it kind of works despite it being so odd. Worms Rumble is pure unadulterated fun, and that’s sometimes all you need from a game to feel lie you’re getting your money’s worth.
